Meet Cam Prendergast
Meet Cam... he's holding it down for the guys in the Pop Up family this season. We're grateful to have him.
Cam joins us with his wife Lauren, who both moved to Ventura about six months ago. I love that Cameron merges his passion for music and DJing to the world of yoga. The energetic vibration of a song perfectly timed to movement can expand and take a practice even deeper.
You'll get to meet him very soon and if you're lucky he will be weaving some of his music into his and Lauren's Saturday Sessions.. Make sure you take a moment to download our new app and get signed for Cam and Lauren's, Saturday 9:30am practice!
Name: Cam Prendergast
B-day: 10/26/1982
Hometown: Denver, CO
Tell us about the evolution of your yoga practice: My practice started as a tool for stress and anxiety management, and in the twelve years since I took my first class it has become the centerpiece around how I view the world. I see yoga as a mirror that reflects how you behave in every facet of your life. If you’re not living mindfully, your practice will suffer and you will struggle— but if you take the time to observe the patterns in your life your practice will reflect abundance, strength and joy.
What’s one thing you wish you could tell yourself when you began your yoga practice:
You don’t have to do it all at once— be patient. And also, giving a shit about what other people think is pointless; do it for you, not for them.
Why do you teach yoga:
A lot of fitness modalities are about as spiritually deep as a paper plate, but yoga really is a lifestyle that can help you in literally all aspects of your life if you take the time to understand it outside of doing lots of chaturangas.
How long have you taught: Eight years
If you could have lunch with any inspiration individual (dead or alive) who and why:
Sam Harris, because I think the things he is discussing and exploring have the power to merge a lot of conflicting belief patterns and he really wants to influence mankind for the better. He is a true hero of mine.
Favorite Treat: beer ;)
Favorite Book: Catch-22 by Thomas Heller
How many countries have you been to: 9
Spirit Animal: A woodpecker
One thing we don’t know about you: I am a DJ and musician, with a degree in music business from the University of Colorado.
Cheers to Cam... have to catch him for a beer someday!
